Is Matt Cassel the “Help” Jerry was talking about?

When it comes to the Dallas Cowboys’ woes, there is some hope. Matt Cassel is no savior to the Boys but he does provide a more stable presence than Brandon Weeden.

I thought the boys would trade for Michael Vick but the Cowboys acquired Matt Cassel for a fifth round pick from the Buffalo Bills today. With Tony Romo down, Jerry Jones said in a post game interview.

“We know what a competitor he is, so there’s no doubt in my mind that if we can hold things together, and we’ve got a lot of help coming and everybody understands that on this team. Nobody on this team is deterred or in any way giving up in any way.”

Cassel was in the thick of the QB competition in Buffalo before the electric Tyrod Taylor came in a stole the show. Cassel is a very capable game manager and has displayed it in the past when Tom Brady went down for injury in his time with the New England Patriots. Cassel came in and threw 21 TDs for the Pats and almost lead them to the playoffs with a 11-5 record.

Additionally the 11-year player even had a solid career season in Kansas City throwing 27 TDs with only 7-INTs for a whopping 93 QBR in 2010.

What I am getting at is that this guy is capable. He has big game experience and has studied behind a legend. Cassel will excel when given the opportunity and I don’t believe Jerry brought him to Dallas to sit behind Weeden.

By the way, it may appear that the sky is falling in Dallas but the boys are still on a 2-game winning streak.
