Mike Remmers proves worth after SB flop

Most people were concerned with how Cam Newton would respond in tonight’s Super Bowl rematch between the Carolina Panthers and the Defending Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos. However, if you watched Super Bowl 50, you’d know that the matchup that needed a rebuttal was the one between Von Miller and Mike Remmers. Let’s be honest. Von ate Mike’s lunch that game. However, tonight for three-quarters at least, the tables have turned.

Mike basically shut down the SB 50 MVP, all the way up until the 4th quarter, with great footwork, stellar hands, and a little assistance from #70 Turner Trai, when Miller smelled blood and came hot. The Broncos as a whole have brought consistent pressure on Cam Newton all night. They came up with the two of the three sacks late in the fourth quarter. But for the most part, Newton was kept clean except for the play where he was darn near broken in half by DeMarcus Ware. The fourth quarter is another story.

Speaking of resilience, Remmers has a history of it. He has been with six different teams since being drafted. According to the charlotteobserver.com teammate Derek Anderson had this to say about his college and now pro teammate:

“He’s a guy who works hard and understands it’s not easy,” Anderson said. “Through what he’s been through, a lot of guys would have probably already given up. It’s a testament to hard work.”

If the first three-quarters are any prelude to his full 2016 season, we could be looking at a player coming from Super Bowl Scapegoat to one of the top Tackles in football.
