Home NFLAFC East Couch Predictions: NFL Week 1

Oh here we go! Sunday is HERE. I’m sure church is ending early because even preachers are worried about dem COWBOYS or whoever they root for. Husbands are sending their wives out shopping or vice-versa. The dip is out, fantasy rosters are set and the loud trash-talking neighbor is at the door ready to claim your man-chair and scream at the TV. Why do you answer the door? Oh well, anyway. Yes, it is game time.

With that said, we here at CRR want you to gain a little original sports perspective on our week 1 projections. Let’s start the predictions with

I got Chicago winning this and I’ll tell you why. Matt Forte is still firing on all cylinders, which will help Jay Cutler immensely. Additionally this Vic Fangio led Defense is going to give a Jordy Nelson-less Aaron Rodgers and Eddie Lacy fits all day.

Couch PICK: Da Bears

Seattle may be heading into enemy territory for this one but St. Louis is not even sure who their starting RB will be this game. Between the Legion of Boom, Tyler Lockett’s electric returns and Beastmode, Seattle will come out victorious.

Couch PICK: Seahawks

This is an extremely interesting matchup. Cleveland has a scary new defense or atleast we saw some extremely impressive schemes early in the preseason. However even with those nice packages on D, Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall will be too much to handle.

For this matchup, I’m scratching my head wondering who in the heck is Corey “Philly” Brown and why is he ahead of Devin Funchess on the depth chart? Cam Newton is hurting for receivers and while this defense can carry him, they could be looking at an L against an improving Jaguars’ defense.

Couch Pick: Jaguars

Houston is not a terrible team and with the addition of Cecil Shorts, (who I am a huge fan of) they will be formidable. Arian Foster is out but it will have little to no effect as Alfred Blue has proven to be a solid #2. J.J. Watt, Vince Wilfork and Jadeveon Clowney will give Kansas City all they can ask for. I believe Andy Reid to be one of the most intelligent Coaches in football but his brain and Jamaal Charles aren’t nearly enough to squeak out the W Sunday.

Couch Pick: Texans

Kirk Cousins, Colt McCoy, RG3? Doesn’t matter. It’s still the Redskins. This defense couldn’t stop running water out of a faucet and the offense won’t be able to keep up with the full on assault from Ryan Tannehill and company. Look for Lamar Miller to have a big day.

Couch Pick: Dolphins

Look, I am on the Tyrod Taylor train and we have left the station! Buffalo’s Defense combined with the explosiveness of this new young starter at QB is going to set the league on fire. You can never count Indy out but let’s be real here. If they allow anywhere near the amount of yards (113.5 per game) they allowed on the ground last season, Shady McCoy will make them pay.

Couch Pick: Bills

With the departure of Jimmy Graham, I think Drew Brees may have trouble riding Brandon Cooks to a win against such a tough Bruce Arians’ defense. As long as Carson Palmer continues to hook up with John Brown and Andre Ellington pumps it out on the ground, New Orleans may be heading into week 2 with an “L”.

Couch Pick: Cardinals

I absolutely love Detroit and the changes that have taken place over the last few years and I was on the fence due to considering Phillip Rivers and the connections with Ladarius Green and Keenan Allen. There is also the special teams standout Jacoby Jones over there now that could affect field position big time. I look forward to reviewing this game.

Couch Pick: Chargers

Ravens Nation I am going to apologize ahead of time. You know I love my team but as a realist and a person who wants to be credible, I have to be honest. I’ll be rooting for the Ravens but as long as Dean Pees is running our defense against masterful QBs like Peyton Manning, who destroyed us in 2013, I’ll have to leave my bias at home.

Couch Pick: Broncos

Here is the matchup people have been salivating over since the Draft. Marcus Mariota vs Jameis Winston. I am going with the better defense and the more complete QB in Mariota. Winston may have better targets but I made my decision based on Mariota just being better. This may raise some eyebrows but so what!

Couch Pick: Titans

Marvin Lewis is just such an amazing regular season coach and I still wish Baltimore could have found a way to keep him as a D-coordinator. With one of the best RB duos in the league, A.J. Green and a defense that opposing O-coordinators lose sleep over, look for some waterworks over in the “black hole” after this one.

Couch Pick: Bengals

This one is a toss up. I like Odell Beckham Jr and the Giants always seem to roll into Dallas, wipe their feet at the door, break the hearts of the 80,000 fans in the stands of AT&T Stadium and then ride off into the sunset. However, I think Dez Bryant will be a highlight reel in this one. Sure Dallas doesn’t know who their starting RB will be but I’m sure they have enough Offense to pull this one out.

Couch Pick: Cowboys

Chip Kelly may have made some crazy moves in the offseason but his offense is something to drool over. I figure Sam Bradford has three good games in him before he’ll go to IR and this is one of them where he balls out against Atlanta’s suspect defense. It’s going to be a shootout for sure but I think it will boil down to the better run-game in this bird fight.

Couch Pick: Eagles

This final matchup had to be the hardest decision because I like what Minnesota is doing with Teddy Bridgewater and of course the best runner in the land, Adrian Peterson. However even with the mass exodus in San Fran along with a coaching change, I am confident that with the former Ravens’ receiving corps and Carlos Hyde they will be able to pull this out.

Couch Pick: 49ERS

Well don’t just sit there! Sound off! Let that anger out on the social media feed. Tell me how wrong I am and why. I can take it. Share it if you like it.
