Lack of Consistency May Lead to the End for Goodell

Consistency in the NFL is a distant memory when it comes to player discipline. In a perfect NFL, when players commit fouls on and/or off the field, judgment is passed, a punishment is given and then the player and the league move forward with the intent of future improvement.

The reality? A judgment gets handed down and then the lawyers come out placing restraining orders on the league. The league then files an injunction to overrule the order. The case is held up in court, which allows the player to play until a verdict can be reached. Eventually the player gets suspended, at which point the Players’ Association gets involved and makes up a rule that allows whatever the offense was to go away by threatening a Lock-out.

I’m not saying this shift in consistency happened all at once, but at this point, the inconsistencies have become so frequent, they’re the only thing actually consistent with the NFL discipline process…it’s revolting!

Roger Goodell said he would punish anyone who hurt the shield; with that said, how is he going to handle himself? It’s time for the man to step down.
