Week 2 Ultimate Fantasy Recap Report

Welcome back to the Ultimate Fantasy Recap Report! Week 2 was doomsday for many Fantasy owners. We saw superstars either not produce or worse, go down with injuries. It was a week that saw low scores across the board. If you survived, congratulations on your 101 point win over your opponent.. If you lost? Don’t panic. It’s only week 2. We all suffered, but we will survive.

Top Waiver Wire Targets:

Top Free Agent Quarterbacks:

  1. Kirk Cousins: (WAS/ Owned in 6.3% ESPN leagues)– It looks like RGIII will be out for 4-5 weeks. Cousins once again proved he is a solid replacement for the oft injured face of the franchise.
  2.  Geno Smith: (NYJ/ Owned in 5.6% ESPN leagues)- Smith had two solid performances in a row and proved to be a threat on foot and in the air. He could have had a third touchdown if it weren’t for a botched timeout.
  3. Jake Locker: (TEN/ Owned in 13.6% ESPN leagues)- Locker is another dual threat who could be dangerous both with passing and rushing the ball.
  4. Eli Manning: (NYG/Owned in 34.8% ESPN leagues)- Despite the 0-2 record and the turnovers,  Eli finally showed he could put up decent fantasy numbers throwing for 277 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Top Free Agent Running Backs:

  1. Kniles Davis: (KC/ Owned in 62.6% ESPN leagues)- Davis had a huge day after the top pick in many fantasy drafts went down. If he’s still available, he should be priority #1!
  2. Ahmad Bradshaw: (IND/Owned in 21.8% ESPN leagues)- It looks like the former Giant dethroned  the former Heisman Trophy winner after a huge Monday night game against the Colts.
  3. Bobby Rainey: (TB/Owned in 5.1% ESPN leagues)- Rainey stepped up big time after Martin was ruled out with a leg injury rushing for 144 yards.
  4. Justin Forrsett: (BAL)- Despite getting 10 less touches than Pierce, he still managed to out score his teammate by a few points in PPR leagues.

Top Free Agent Wide Receivers:

  1. Mohahmed Sanu: (CIN/Owned in 2% ESPN leagues)- Sanu will have to step up and be the #1 guy in AJ Green’s absence.
  2. Brian Quick: (STL/Owned in 3.3% ESPN leagues)- Quick led the Rams in catches for the second week in a row.
  3. James Jones: (OAK/ Owned in 27.6% ESPN leagues)- Jones scored a TD in week one and grabbed 9 catches for 90 yards week 2 against a tough Texans defense.
  4. Davonte Adams: (GB/ Owned in 0.6% ESPN leagues)- Davonte may push Jarrett Boykin out of that #3 WR spot after his 5 catch 50 yard performance against the Jets.
  5. Miles Austin: (CLE/Owned in 2.2% ESPN leagues)- The man who was once a star in Dallas is slowly making his way back into fantasy relevance after his 6 catch performance against
  6. Ryan Grant: (WAS/Owned in 0.2% ESPN leagues)- Grant hauled in 5 catches for 57 yards after Desean Jackson went down.

  1. Niles Paul: (WAS/ Owned in 0.8% ESPN leagues)- Niles was a top 5 TE in week 2 filling in for the injured Jordan Reed
  2. Larry Donnell: (NYG/Owned in 1.3% ESPN leagues)- Donnell scored a TD in week 1 and was targeted 9 times in week 2. Eli’s newest toy is here to stay.
  3. Travis Kelce: (KC/ Owned in 2.3% ESPN leagues)- Kelce put in a solid 4 catch, 81 yard performance against Denver.
  4. Owen Daniels: (BAL/ Owned in 8.6% ESPN leagues- Dennis Pitta is still the main target, but Daniels burglarized touchdowns all night Thursday.

Top 10 Running Backs Headed Into The 2014 Season. Numbers 5-1

No. 5 Alfred Morris: I predicted last season Morris would be a top performer and he was. This year I am picking the powerful Running Back of the Washington Redskins. Morris truly is something special. Morris had 1,275-yards, 9-touchdowns and 4.6-yards per carry. Morris lead the Washington Offense after a roughed up Robert Griffin struggled. This Pensacola native has been an RB1 option since entering the league in 2012. With the additions to the passing game, a healthy RGIII and the return of the read option, Morris should be at the top of his game and be one of the best Running Backs in the league.

 

No. 4 Matt Forte: The Chicago Bears take pride in their underrated Running Back Matt Forte. Forte carried the load and had the second highest number of yards on this list with 1,339 with 9-rushing Touchdowns. With the passing-attack of the Bears, Forte should have no problem in dominating defenses. Remember this is a list ranking the best going into this season as far as performance, not best overall. Still Forte is pretty high and will continue to solidify his status as a top back. Not to mention the NFL has Forte ranked as the number one receiving back. It is safe to say Forte will get his.

 

No. 3 Adrian Peterson: Peterson is no doubt the second best Back but the Minnesota Vikings do not have enough options in the passing attack to give Peterson big numbers similar to the 2,000-yard season of 2012. Granted, when Peterson had that season the Vikings’ passing-attack was lackluster at best. Due to 8 men in the box looks and all out blitzes, Peterson had 1,266-yards and 10-touchdowns. The 2012 MVP was not able to carry the team to wins. Peterson is always a top-2 back but for performance this season, I rank him 3rd. Still a fair ranking.

 

No 2. Jamaal Charles: Charles is pretty much the Kansas City Chiefs entire Offense. His average per carry last season was 5. An impressive number and Charles  has proven himself as a Running Back and pass catcher. Charles has everything teams dream of in a Running Back. Lightning speed, acceleration, and catching. Charles truly lights up the field everywhere he goes. Charles had 19 total Touchdowns. 12 rushing and 7 receiving and without Charles, the Chiefs don’t make the playoffs.

 

No. 1 Lesean McCoy: Will the real slim shady please stand up? Maybe not slim shady but the second shadiest person in terms of avoidance and quickness.  The Philadelphia Eagles‘ Running Back has been compared to the Barry Sanders in terms of quickness and the running ability of Terrell Davis. McCoy had 1,607-yards leading the league and averaged 5.1 per carry including 9 rushes for 20+ yards. The Chip Kelly offense loves McCoy and I am sure McCoy is loving it. With open holes and the amazing ability of McCoy, the Eagles on paper are just insanely good. Watching McCoy carry the load whether it is in the rain or snow, is awesome. Lesean McCoy will easily be the top rusher in the league next year and at the least top 3. Without a doubt McCoy and Peterson are nearly tied for best running backs in the league overall.
