What about us: Eddie Jackson and Anthony Harris

Sometimes it’s nice to get out of my own shell and talk to the other teams around the league because I swear if I see one more “Lamar Jackson is not NFL ready” post on facebook, I’m going to lose my ****. Anyway, I thought I would veer over to the NFC North. I love defense and I favor the Safety position more than any. I thought I would shine some light on two players in the North that shined this weekend and where they could be in the future with more consistency. Anthony Harris and second-year player Eddie Jackson, you are in the Couch Rider Report What about us moment.

Minnesota Shining

I’ll start off with 4th-year player Harris. The former Virginia Safety had a spectacular game against the Chicago Bears where he posted 4-tackles and 2-Ints on a Sunday that probably gets overshadowed due to such an amazing Monday night game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Kansas City Chiefs. Getting two picks in a season is difficult in such a talented QB league, but two in one game definitely needs to be recognized as a fantastic feat. Granted Mitch Trubisky hasn’t been exactly giving picks away like hotcakes as he now has 10 on the season. You know you’re somebody special when Pro Football Focus places you on their list of players with 90 and above weekly ratings. Shout out to the Chesterfield Virginia Native on his 3rd pick of the season.

Chi-Town strikes gold on D again

Next, we have another player that I kept asking around the water cooler about. Before this weekend if you asked me who Eddie Jackson was I would have told you he was a Rutgers University Basketball Coach. But you wonderful people of the windy city refer to him as the “quarterback of our secondary.” Or at least Vic Fangio does. He gave plenty of reason this past weekend to support his case as the former 4th round pick had a pick 6 on arguably one of the best signal callers in the league. Usually Eddie has been known for his run-stuffing ability and coming down to be the eighth man in the box. This man knows how to work his way through the trash to find the ball carrier. The Rook is also aware of his lane containment responsibilities as he comes up the line.

I would say my hat goes off to your former Daddy Nick Saban for teaching you a discipline that has gotten you recognized but some credit should go to DB’s coach Roy Anderson for your efforts and success thus far. 31 Tackles 2 Ints, 2 forced fumbles and 2 defensive TDs are why we believe there is more to come from you. Best of luck Sir.

It’s nice to see the future of defense is still intact with players like Harris and Jackson still out there making it tough on opposing QBs. Until next time folks.
