Should Bills go Jones over Taylor?

There has been plenty of woof about Tyrod Taylor possibly losing his job to Cardale Jones due to the way the season has gone offensively. The Buffalo Bills front office is under the impression that the entire offense is high powered and there is no reason that they should be a 7-7 team. I am here because I believe differently. I believe that not only was the WR corps for the Bills dismal but that Cardale Jones is not the answer.
It is easy to say that

“well Jermaine, you have been on the Tyrod Taylor bandwagon since he was in Baltimore.”

Well, that may well be, but I had to do some digging to figure out what the potential replacement looked like. I’ll let you look at the tape and tell me.

Jones is a gunslinger, and the age of the gunslinger is almost obsolete. Ryan Fitzpatrick, Russell Wilson, and Aaron Rodgers are gunslingers in this league. Two out of those three names are outstanding guys who anyone would want to form a team around. However, the other one may be the most expensive mistake that the New York Jets have ever made. Is this the chance you Bills want to take when it comes to your signal caller? While the former Buckeye may have poise in the pocket and the ability to drop some nice dimes, there are some serious flaws in his game plan. This Cleveland Ohio native has tunnel vision; he stares down receivers. Jones throws into double and triple coverages and has been known to hold onto the ball entirely too long. He’s even gone as far to speak to his experience according to buffalobills.com:

“At Ohio State, I didn’t really have a stance under center because I was never under center,”

Don’t be so quick to switch from T-Mobile

Is this the guy Buffalo fans are truly waiting for on the runway? I sure hope not. Tyrod is the best QB the Bills have seen since Jim Kelly, and yet they are ready to give they lead signal caller the boot for an underdeveloped science project? I get it; the Bills have one of the worst pass offenses in the league. However, the reason for the lack of production is on the receivers; they are the ones who need replacing.

Look Mom, No hands!

The Bills’ number one WR for the teams has been dealing with a foot injury the majority of the year and can’t run a dig route to save his life. We all know Sammy Watkins is one-dimensional but that one deep dimension actually helps the underneath route runners like Charles Clay and Robert Woods find room. With Watkins, Clay and Woods on the field healthy at the same time, Tyrod has a better chance to be more productive. The good news is the team is allowing Taylor to finish the season before making a decision. My hope is that he can convince the team in his next two outings against the Miami Dolphins and the New York Giants that he is worth picking up the 29 million dollar option or at least having a contact restructure to keep him with the team. On the other hand, Rex Ryan’s fate is all but sealed.
