Is Jacoby Brissett a starter in this league?

Most of the sports world Tuesday morning were going on about Lamar Jackson, Joe Flacco and Andrew Luck. I of course am still riding with my guy Lamar, but there was a QB that no one mentioned. Jacoby Brissett had a great night and should be starting somewhere in this league, but where?

Buy now before it’s too late

The former New England Patriot went 14 for 23 for 172 yards and no TD against a monster Ravens D who had “no chill”. The first teamers gave Andrew Luck so much trouble that he even ripped himself on the podium in the post game presser. But entered Brissett and he had a poise about him that kept him cool in the pocket connecting on extremely nice throws. Baltimore still laid on the pressure but Jacoby kept cool and carved up the defenses on several displays of accuracy. So the question is why are teams not climbing over each other beating down the door for this young man?

A “2” SHOULD DO…

Well, the price may be too high as the Colts are happy with their Luck insurance policy in Brissett. In fact according to rotoworld.com, the Colts turned down a second-round-pick from Seattle in order to keep the backup signal caller in Indy.

Let that man compete

While I believe the value for Brissett is high, I do not believe the former NC State player is worth more than Jimmy Garrapolo was in the trade market. The Colts should realize this as well and take the next offer of a second rounder that puts Jacoby in a good spot to compete for a starting spot.

The competition

I could see the 6-4, 235 lb QB in a Buffalo Bill uniform, taking on his former team twice a year. I mean let’s be honest. His competition is a racist big arm guy who may have some intermediate passing issues, a lifetime backup who couldn’t even beat out Andy Dalton or a guy who threw 5 INTs in on half in his debut. The former 3rdround pick would destroy the competition with ease.

Best Fit?

There is also a good fit in Jacksonville who I believe should welcome the change at signal caller. Blake Bortles is third world ugly in the pocket. The only reason the Jags beat the Bills in the playoff was because of Bortles abilty to scramble for his life. Mr. Brisket would bring that new WR corps to another level of production.

The struggle is real!

In this game of politics and high turnover, it is hard to grab a starting job unless someone gets hurt or just has a completely tough year. Brissett deserves to start in this league after putting a solid display of mechanics and playmaking the last two seasons. Who is going to give him a shot?
