I may be a little late on this one but it is official. Kirk Cousins “I LIKE THAT!”

The Washington Redskins fans have a guy they can now correlate the word “future with”. Initially I thought that his only ability was to connect with his TE Jordan Reed. Every garbage QB uses their TE for security and no one else but it is clear to see this Michigan State product has great QB vision and is capable of finding all targets on the field of battle.

Cousins went 12 for 15 for 176-yards, 3-touchdowns and no interceptions on the day against “America’s Team”. Not staggering however it does result in a 155.13 QBR. If those numbers aren’t convincing enough lets take a look at the last three weeks where the third year player has been darn near perfect.

  • PHI 31/46/365/4
  • BUF 22/28/319/4
  • CHI 24/31/300/1 (1-int)

Today’s display of dominance over the Dallas Cowboys is exactly the performance needed to convince Redskins’ owner Daniel Snyder that this is the Quarterback for the team going forward. Around the NFL Editor Gregg Rosenthal had this to say about the rising Star after last week’s game:

“On Saturday night, Cousins left no doubt. He’s going to get a long-term contract. He’s going to start a home playoff game…”

The confidence that Cousins shows in the pocket is attributed to a good offensive line and they should be given some credit but I doubt Robert Griffin III would be as successful even if he was behind this line transformation from 2014-15. The only constant with the line in both years is the anchor LT Trent Williams. The other starters were brought up from the bench or brought in via free agency and the draft.

Cousins will cash in this offseason no matter where he lands in the playoffs, but I’m sure a contract is the last thing on his mind. This NFC East Champion has his sights set on the Lombardi.
